Reddit fights against deepfakes and identity theft

Reddit has introduced new rules to the platform. They are aimed at limiting the spread of deepfakes and impersonations will ill intent
Users can no longer pose as other persons or companies. They also can not publish deepfakes aimed at deceiving and confusing other users. The possible sanctions include the suspension and permanent block of “guilty” accounts. However, comic and satirical posts will be exempt from the limitations.
Reddit’s representative has specified, that this mostly a preemptive measure. Currently the issue does not seem to be excessively problematic - complaints about deepfakes amount to only 2.3 of the overall complaints on the platform.
