LG Signature OLED TV R rollable TV will cost US$60,000
South Korean company LG continues to develop TVs made with flexible OLED panels. At the CES 2020 expo, which is currently taking place in Las Vegas, the company introduced a full-fledged 65-inch flexible panel OLED TV that supports 4K resolution. It is expected hit the market in the second half of this year.
The primary gimmick of the TV is that the display can be completely rolled up and hidden in its base. The television is also known to support the voice assistant Alexa, with the help of which the user can use the voice control features. It is worth mentioning that the display can be unwound not only to its entire height, but to any point in the process of its extension.
The manufacturer says that the flexible display is very reliable and will not deteriorate over time. During testing, the panel withstood folding 50,000 times. This is the equivalent of about 68 years, if the TV hidden and deployed once a day.
According to media sources, the mass production of the LG Signature OLED TV R should begin in the second or third quarter of this year. The exact retail price of the new TV has not yet been determined by the company, but in a comment on the matter, an LG spokesman said that the price would be around US$60,000.
