Airbnb to launch 'animal experiences'
The service will offer Airbnb users 1,000 Experiences co-hosted by over 300 species and their human advocates, Airbnb said in a statement. Talking to Fortune about the new service, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said the company opted for Animals next after seeing high, organic interest in animal-related activities on the original Experiences platform.
Chesky told Fortune the new service will add up to Airbnb's growing Experiences platform that will be "very central to Airbnb's story" while the company is preparing for an IPO. Airbnb CEO hopes Experiences can help the company increase its profit margins and boost enthusiasm for the brand, as its core vacation-rental business matures and continues to face regulatory hurdle.
